Kirsten Brown Obituary

Kirsten Brown (Campbell)

June 11, 2025

Kirsten Bynum Brown (Campbell), 43, of Johnson City, TN, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Kirsten was born on December 14, 1981, in Johnson City, TN.

She was a loving daughter, sister, stepmom, godmother, and friend to many. Kirsten loved to travel, visit museums, collect art, Legos, globes, and antiques, cheer on the TN Volunteers, eat fudge rounds, drink Coke, watch The Golden Girls and football, and, most importantly, spend time with family and friends. Kirsten loved animals, especially her beloved dog Sophie, whom she adored. One of her greatest joys was being an aunt to her nephews, whom she loved very much. She graduated from ETSU with degrees in both biology and finance and was employed by the TVA, where her coworkers became like family. Those who know her describe her as kind, caring, loving, compassionate, and witty.

She is survived by her father, Dirk Campbell; mother, Fay Campbell; twin sister, Ashley Ryan (Jon); brother, Ross Campbell (Tracy); two nephews, Hudson Ryan and Jacob Campbell; and boyfriend, Brian Pridemore, and his children, Cody (Adriana), Nadia, and Lexi.

There will be a celebration of life held at Winged Deer Park (Meredith Pavilion) in Johnson City, TN, on June 23, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30. This is a casual event where guests will have the opportunity to share stories, and Pastor Ross Campbell (Kirsten's brother) will officiate during this time.

Dear Kirsten,
I didn't know you well but over the past year or so I have gotten a glimpse of the kind and caring woman you were through talking with your dad and Aunt Stephanie. Your pizza nights with your dad every Thursday, your cute little house, your dog's birthday party, Morgan Wallace's music, watching the Volunteers with your dad and just how strong you were when batteling through your whole ordeal. You have left a huge hole in so many hearts and you will be missed by all. Your suffering is at an end and peace has taken over. And someday we will all be together again.
Much love, Carolyn

While I never actually had the chance to meet Kirsten in person, our multiple phone conversations and text messages back and forth over the last 4 years allowed me a small glimpse into her personal life. What started out as information regarding dock permits, turned into conversations of family, friends and fun. And a lot about her dog. I, like so many others, really don't have the words right now. Nothing that I think of seems to be just right. I am so sorry for your loss, and more importantly for the loss that so many will feel from her passing. Until we (actually) meet again, fly high.

There aren´t the right words to convey right now. So I will say "my condolences".
Kirsten, as a child, was full of empathy and kindness. She was an amazing friend. I wish I had known her as an adult. Stories of golf carts and birthday parties come to mind! Sending love and hugs to each of you!

What wonderful memories of your family and watching the girls play basketball and volleyball from elementary to high school!
I´m so sorry for your family´s loss. Kirsten was way too young to leave this world, but it´s a better place because of her!

Kirsten was truly one of a kind. She was such a great friend to all who knew her. I´ll never forget her coming over to visit with my mother, who at the same time was also battling cancer, and Kirsten being such a positive, encouraging person for my mother to talk with, and bringing her a Lego bamboo flower set. Kirsten always thought of others before herself & her genuine kindness made a lasting impact on me. I´ll never forget you my sweet friend. You were so very special & I´ll forever miss you. My thoughts & prayers are with her family for such a heartbreaking loss.
