Kevin Lee Goodman peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 10, 2023, following a courageous battle with a plethora of health issues including diabetes and cancer.
The proud son of his beloved mother, Joyce Goodman, and father, Ronald Goodman, Kevin was born in Johnson City, Tennessee. Shortly after graduating from Science Hill High School, Kevin enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly and selflessly served his country for just over 20 years. He served aboard many vessels, including the USS Orion, USS John Hancock and USS Halyburton, earning numerous medals and distinguished accolades including the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal. In 2004, Kevin's excellence and proficiency earned him the dignified and honorable title of Chief Petty Officer, where he diligently invested in the enhancement and development of the Navy's next generation of sailors.
Kevin's affinity for the likes of Randy Travis, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, and Conway Twitty was only outmatched by his unapologetic passion for the Orange and White, which he proudly donned win or lose. Few things brought a bigger smile to his face than watching Tennessee beat Alabama in anything, especially football!
Even with all of Kevin's accomplishments, passions, and travels, nothing brought him greater joy and pride than the title of "Dad". Kevin's unconditional love and endless devotion to his two children, Zoe & Cale, were his proudest work and legacy.
Kevin was preceded in death by his "Darlin'" mother, Joyce Goodman, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. In addition to his two children, Zoe and Cale Goodman, Kevin is survived by his father, Ronald Goodman, sister Kim Shepard and her husband, Don, sister Krissy Goodman, one niece, two nephews, a great-nephew, several dearly loved cousins, and countless loyal friends and comrades, who will all miss him greatly.
A memorial service honoring Kevin will be held on Friday June 23, 2023, at 2PM at the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Committal Shelter). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wounded Warrior Project or American Diabetes Association in Kevin's honor.

"I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think I can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction, I served in the United States Navy." ---- President John F. Kennedy

I've known Kevin for years. His locker was beside of mine in high school. Always quick-witted, and just a general ray of sunshine. I was so saddened to hear of his passing, but what a wonderful place he calls home now! No more suffering.
I'm asking prayers for peace from our father's mighty and loving hands for Kevin's family, and his two children during this time.

Our deepest and most sincere condolences to Kevin's family and friends.
I had the honor and privilege of serving with Kevin aboard the USS Orion (AS-18) in La Maddalena, Sardinia, Italy in the late 80s/early 90s, when he was a brand new recruit.
Kevin was easy to teach and quick to learn and with his quick wit, constant grin and great attitude, I knew he'd be a success in the Navy.
So, it was no surprise when I learned years later that Kevin had earned the distinguished rank of Chief Petty Officer, retired and had gone on to work for the Department of Defense.
Kevin had a sweet and kind demeanor and was loved by all!
Fair Winds and Following Seas, Shipmate! Rest easy, we have the watch and you stand relieved!
May God bring peace and comfort to his family and friends during this difficult time!
Sincerely,
Michael & Mary Bailey

We know Kevin's life was a light to all!
Our gratitude goes out to his family for sharing him, as he served our country, in the Navy--we are honored that Randy was able to go with him, through the music that kept him company.
We pray for the peace that passes all understanding as you send Kevin back home, to our precious Lord, for total health and eternal life.
God bless and keep you each--forever and ever, Amen--Mary and Randy Travis
