JONESBOROUGH - Kerry Schutt, 63, of Jonesborough, TN, passed away, at home, on Saturday, July 1, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kerry graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in engineering and a Master's degree from Georgia Tech. He also received a degree from the Wharton School of Business in Phillie, Pennsylvania. Kerry was an avid fisherman, wonderful friend, accomplished engineer, and loving husband. He was an expert craftsman, who loved working with his friends and family. He gave back to his community through organizations and gave his time to those he loved. Kerry had lifelong friends that he undertook numerous projects and fishing adventures with. He loved life, and he lived it. Kerry found joy in a good cigar, a cocktail, and a game of dice. (Twos suck!)
Kerry is preceded in death by; his parents, Paul and Suzi Schutt; his brother, Chuck Schutt.
He is survived by; his wife, Lessa Schutt; his sister Andrea Grindstaff and husband George; his brothers, Kevin Schutt and wife Linda, Steve Schutt and wife Susie; brother, Roosevelt Rogers and wife Linda; three stepchildren, Luke, Aryn, and Dylan; five nephews, James, Carl, Michael, Lee, and Ben; four nieces, Amy S., Shannon, Ashley, Amy M.; two granddaughters, Marlee "Mayhem," and Janie "JuneBug"; and his puppy dog, Darby.
Kerry was blessed to have great lifelong friends, too numerous to mention. Especially those he considered 'brothers from another mother,' Whitey, Beaver, Coco, and KB, you made Speedy's life better for knowing you.
A memorial service will be held at Kingsport Community Church on Friday, July 7th, at 11 am. Kerry's friends and family will celebrate his life at the Meadowview Convention Center in Kingsport on Saturday, July 8th, at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those inclined, make a donation to the ALS Foundation.
