Kenny Brown Obituary

Kenny Darrell Brown

September 2, 2025

JONESBOROUGH - Kenny Darrell Brown, 69, Jonesborough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Lakebridge, A Waters Community, Johnson City.

He was born in Richlands, VA and was a son of the late Mason Brown and Dorcie Casey Osborne.

Kenny proudly served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Army, where he worked as a payroll and unit clerk, and later continued his service in the Tennessee Reserves. A graduate of Richlands High School, he went on to earn his associate's degree from Southwest Virginia Community College. Kenny worked as a coal miner and was later employed with FIT in Johnson City.

Kenny was a member of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church and found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He loved casting a line on a quiet day of fishing, spending time on the golf course, or strumming his guitar. In the evenings, nothing made him happier than settling in to watch his favorite westerns.

In addition to his parents Kenny was preceded in death by a daughter, Kenya Jo Ann Hodge; grandsons, Timothy Brison, Jeffery Cantrell; brother, Curtis Lee Richardson; brother-in-law, Benny Richardson.

Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Banna Richardson Brown; daughter, Tara L. Brison (Paul); grandchildren, Kevin Gene Bandy, Justin Blake Cantrell, Alex Cantrell, Pamela Ledford, Earl Hodge, Wesley Brison; special grandchildren, Courtney and Austin Brown; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Darian Smith; brothers-in-law, Larry Richardson, Harry Richardson (Pat); sisters-in-law, Connie Osborne (Joe), Carol French, Patsy Richardson, Jannie Richardson, Karen Reynolds; several nieces and nephews.

The celebration of Kenny's life will be conducted Friday, September 5, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, with Pastor Wayne Cole, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Lakebridge, A Waters Community, for the wonderful care they gave Kenny.
