February 17, 2025

ERWIN - Kenneth Ray Edwards, age 85, of Erwin, entered into his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Monday, February 17, 2025. Ken was the son of John and Lena Day Edwards. He was born and raised in Erwin, in the community of Rock Creek. He attended Rock Creek Elementary School and is a graduate of Unicoi County High School. After graduation, Ken joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for four years and was stationed in Plattsburg, NY. There he met and married the love of his life, Leona. Ken attended Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church. His favorite thing was to go camping with his daughter, Lisa Lee. His favorite place to camp was at the Outer Banks. Ken walked the Linear Trail in Erwin every day as long as he was able, making many friends along the way. Ken was preceded in death by his loving wife, Leona; his mother and father, John and Lena Day Edwards, one brother, Johnny Eugene Edwards, of Massachusetts; one sister, Lisa Jill Slemmons; brother-in-law, Talmadge Higgins; sister-in-law, JoAnn Edwards; and nephew, Terry Lee Edwards. Ken loved his big family.

Kenneth Ray Edwards has left behind to cherish his memory: his loving daughter, Lisa Lee Edwards, of the home; brothers: Terry Edwards, Gary Edwards (Dee), Charles Edwards (Sherree), all of Erwin; two sisters: Martha Peters (Dennis), of Erwin, Loretta "Suzy" Higgins (Roger), of Soddy Daisy; sister-in-law, Florence Edwards, of Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Tony Slemons, of Erwin; aunt, Lois Edwards, of Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Kenneth Ray Edwards in a funeral service to be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church. Reverend Earl Ragland will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, and will continue until service time at Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church. A graveside committal service will be held in Fishery Community Church Cemetery following the funeral service on Wednesday. Those who wish to attend the committal service should meet at Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church by 1:00 pm on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Terry Edwards, Roger Higgins, Charles Edwards, Gary Edwards, Tony Slemons, and Dennis Peters.
