ELIZABETHTON - Born in Elizabethton, TN to the late Bonnie Brumit and the late Clyde Calloway on April 28, 1938.
Ken was an Air Force veteran. He attended Elizabethton High School, Elizabethton Business college and Steed College.
His employment began with Raytheon and was employed with Sperry Farragut and General Machine & Tool. He retired from Piedmont Airlines/USAir and later worked for Delta Airlines and the Veterans Administration.
His sins were washed clean by the blood of Jesus and was a member of West Side Christian Church.
He was a 32-degree mason and a member of Watauga Masonic lodge 622 and Valley of Knoxville Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie Brumit, father Clyde Calloway, Step father S.A. Brumit, one sister Barbara Calloway Gentry and a special nephew Kenneth Gentry.
A service to Celebrate the life of Ken will be conducted at 2 pm Friday February 23, 2024 at West Side Christian Church in Elizabethton with Greg Key and Sam Brumit officiating. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Love Calloway, one sister Kay Brumit Landry & Ron of Austin, Texas, one brother Sam Brumit & Judy of San Marcos, CA. Nieces & Nephews: Barbara's children: Kimberly Edwards & Kandace Barbee. Kay's children Karen Sandoval & Clint Mays. Sam's children: David Brumit, Jennifer Recknagel, Jonathan Brumit and Jeffrey Brumit. A very special person and caregiver, Debbie Woods who was like a daughter always called them Mama and Dad. Two special people that always called them Uncle Ken and Aunt Nancy, are Comora Tolliver and Billy Gentry.
Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers: Walter Brumit, Gary Simerly, Mike Taylor, Walter Heaton, Steve Dunlap, Luther McKeehan, Mike Verbonich, Walt Treadwell, Charles VonCannon, Bryan Burleson, Bill Burger, Jim Starr, David Woods, Bill Gentry, Phillip Young, Dr. Keith Young, Dr. Jonathan Bremer, friends and neighbors, members of West Side Christian Church, members of his former church, First Christian Elizabethton, former co-workers of Piedmont Airlines, USAir, Delta airlines and Veterans Administration, Mountain Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Side Christian Church or East Tennessee Christian Home & Academy. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at West Side Christian Church prior to the service. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Hope, Happy Valley Memorial Park.
