Kathy Bennett Obituary

JOHNSON CITY - Kathy Mae Bryant Bennett, age 64, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Elmer Jack Bryant, Sr. and Clara Lee Honeycutt Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Dianne Stepp; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Rice; and one sister-in-law, Kathy Bennett.

Kathy was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and with Vacation Bible School. She took care of and loved many children through the years in her at home daycare. She loved taking care of children, decorating the home, her cat Tiger, visiting antique stores, and attending her granddaughter's ballgames. She was an avid walker at the Sycamore Shoals Park in Elizabethton. Kathy will be remembered as one who loved her family dearly and one who loved spending time with each of them. There will be a special tree planted in her neighborhood in her memory of where all the children played in days gone past.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Terry Bennett; one daughter and son-in-law, Heather Bennett Moore and husband Ben; three granddaughter's, Alex Moore, Addi Moore, and Annleigh Kate Moore; two brothers and sister-in-laws, C.J. Bryant and wife Donna, and Elmer Bryant and wife Kathy; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Wilma Lee Rice, Polly Peterson, and Anita Street and husband Guy; two brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law, Mike Bennett and wife Karen, and Gary Bennett; special girls in her life, Hannah Smith Wade, Clara Smith, Kylie Street and Patsy Presnell; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM with her son-in-law, Ben Moore and Pastor Dexter Brummitt officiating. Committal Service and Interment will follow in the Garden of the Last Supper at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to extend their thanks to her neighborhood, Ballad Hospice, members of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church, and a host of special friends for all the love and care that was shown.
