Katherine Sheets Obituary
Katherine Ann Sheets, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life of 55 years, Raymond Junior Sheets; her parents, Charles and Ella Echols; her sister, Carolyn Echols; and her great-grandson, Easton Sunday.
Ann was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Ann also dedicated 40 years of service to Smyth County Community Hospital, where she was affectionately known as Katie. She had a kind and giving heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Ann enjoyed playing bingo at the local VFW, walking the track at Sugar Grove School, and drinking her Country Time lemonade. She especially loved Elvis and never missed a chance to enjoy his music. Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two sons, Steve Sheets and wife Ginger, Freddie Sheets and wife Lishia; her daughters, Angela Sheets Harris and husband PJ of Sugar Grove, VA, and Melissa Sheets; her brother, Ronald Echols and wife Sharon; her grandchildren, Ruthie Sheets Lowther and husband Ryan, Lakyn Sunday and husband Lukus, Austin Sheets, Erin Sheets, Sadie Sheets, Timmy Sheets, Anna Sheets, and Carson Sheets; her great-grandchildren, Reagan Sunday, Adalee Sheets, Ella Bowman, Blakley Sunday, and Tripp Norris; along with lifelong friends, Jimmy and Bonnie Grubb; many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion, VA, with Pastor David Medley officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM prior to the service. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Slemp Cemetery in Sugar Grove, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Always a smile could be counted on when you came to the nurse's station when she was on duty! She did her job with grace and efficiently. She will be missed by her family and friends but I feel sure she was greeted at the gates of heaven with "Well done my good and faithful servant."
