JOHNSON CITY - Karen Louise Holdren, 56, of Johnson City, TN, died at Bristol Regional Medical Center on February 16, 2024.
Karen was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1967. She is the daughter, and only child, of Don P. And Catherine P. Holdren of Johnson City, TN.
She graduated from Science Hill High School in 1990. She was the first Special Education student to begin her freshman year, 1986, in the Science Hill Special Education Program and to experience the complete program.
She was a very loving and caring person, and had a long, wonderful, and God blessed life. She enjoyed going to church and singing the hymns. She always looked forward to dining out after the service and enjoyed eating at the many and varied restaurants in Johnson City.
Karen enjoyed traveling with her parents. She and the family visited such foreign lands as Okinawa, Japan, and Hawaii. Her favorite places to visit were the beach areas. She enjoyed the sun and the relaxation periods in the beach chairs. She has traveled to more than 25 of the 50 states.
Each June, for many years, she traveled with her parents to Charles Town, WV where they visited her mother's family. This gave her an opportunity to visit with her many cousins, aunts, and uncles who live in that area. She looked forward to that trip every year.
Karen enjoyed music of all kinds but tended to favor country/western music.
Karen is preceded in death by her father Don P. Holdren. She is survived by her mother, Catherine "Bunny" P. Holdren of Johnson City, TN; Aunt Betty Brown of Winchester, VA; Aunt Margaret Quinto of Charleston, WV; Uncle Rev. Ray Holdren of Lexington, KY; and many loving cousins.
The family of Karen Louise Holdren will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 S. Fairfax Blvd., Ranson, WV.
