UNICOI - Judy Ann Gouge, age 72, of Unicoi, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and daughter. Judy was born in Carter County on July 31, 1953 to parents, Earl and Helen "Ruth" Clark. Mrs. Gouge was a homemaker. She was the heart of our home, dedicating her life to creating a loving and nurturing home for her family and loved ones. She loved being outdoors, planting and tending her garden, planting flowers and canning vegetables and jellies. She was generous, kind hearted, and always had a smile on her face. She attended Southside Freewill Baptist Church. She loved her church family and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, Judy Ann Gouge is preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Ann Gouge; brothers: Ronald Clark, Kenneth Clark, Stevie Clark, Harold Clark, Cecil Clark, and Eddie Clark; and her sister, Mina Chambers.

Judy Ann Gouge has left behind to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 54 years, John Wayne Gouge; daughter, Jennifer Gouge Vanover (Ray); special granddaughter, Kennedie Renfro; brothers: Larry Clark and Gary Clark; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially her nurse, Nicki Richardson; and to Dr. Bradley Beeler and the staff of the Cancer Center in Johnson City for the kindness and care provided during this difficult time.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Judy Ann Gouge in a celebration of her life to be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Kevin Laws, Darren Higgins, JP Metcalf, and Bobbie Ramsey. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 pm on Wednesday and will continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 9, 2026 in Gouge Cemetery, in the Limestone Cove Community. Those who wish to attend the committal service should meet at Gouge Cemetery by 10:25 am on Thursday for the service.. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Ray Vanover, Darren Higgins, JP Metcalf, Patrick Bennett, Adam Hill and David Butler.
