Joshua Stott Obituary

Joshua Kimball Stott

1981 ~ 2025

Josh was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on February 19, 1981, and died on Friday, April 11th, 2025 at home after a brief bout with liver failure. He came to Utah as a young child to join his family through adoption. He had severe physical handicaps which necessitated numerous surgeries, but his spirit soared and he maintained enthusiasm for life and kept his fighting spirit to the end. He is affectionately known as our 'Knucklehead Saint.'

Josh often spoke about playing on the Princeton Ward basketball team, but his first love was soccer, and he excelled on many Utah league teams. His skills in fixing computers were legendary and his ability playing video games always stunned his opponents-- his favorites games were Zelda, Gears of War, Super Mario 3, Donkey Kong, and Street Fighter. His mind was encyclopedic; Josh was often asked questions instead of Alexa. From sports trivia to Simpsons' dialogues, to UHF, he remembered it all. He enjoyed many trips with his good friend, Willi, going on safaris, river rafting, sky diving, bungie jumping in South Africa and as a special treat, attending a Bayern/Munchen soccer game.

Since becoming ill Josh has been lovingly cared for by his devoted siblings and mother, who can't imagine life without his indomitable spirit and quirky humor.

Josh is survived by his mother, Suzanne Gardner Stott, beloved siblings Song (Hugh), Perry, Lindsay, Hunter (Mashell), Jesse (Hannah), Lillie (Heath), Latonya, Jimmy, and Fardowsa(Ali). Father, David (Cheryl), adored nieces and nephews, cherished aunts and uncles, and special cousins and friends too numerous to mention. He will miss most of all his daughters, Lexi and Ally Holt, and their mother, Melisa.

Private burial services will be held. Aufwiedersehen to our Hero.

I had met Josh online in a chatroom and later spent three weeks with him in SLC - what connected us from the moment we spoke was the fact that we both got abandend by the woman who had brought us into this world but didnt care - and we both been blessed with families who did.

Josh was the most positive person I ever met and I know he touched many people...

To his daughters: You had an awesome Dad!"

Josh will always be an inspiration for everyone that knew him. He was a truly loyal and generous friend. And a fierce competitor on the pitch. Your random calls and sharp humor will be greatly missed. Until we meet again. Love you my guy

Suzanne and David I am sorry for this loss. I have so many fond memories with Josh. He went to high school with my youngest brother and we would all play Mario Cart and 007 in our living room for hours. I also had the privilege to play on the same indoor soccer team as him called "Fluffy White Bunnies". He scored some of the most amazing goals! So many fun memories!!! I'll truly miss him.

Suzanne,
I'm not sure that you will remember us; you were our social worker and did our home studies when we adopted our daughter (now 29) and son (now 27) as infants in 1995 and 1998. (We lived on Bryan Ave at the time). You were so kind and thoughtful, not just doing our home studies but also offering any advice we needed. You also told us about your children. My heart just breaks for you and your family. There are no words for losing a child. I hope you find comfort in knowing what a beautiful life he lived with you and his siblings. I have thought of you often and we will keep you in our prayers.
