JOHNSON CITY - Joseph Arthur McCune, resident of Johnson City, TN, and formerly of Janesville, WI, 79, died at home on June 29, 2023, of natural causes.
Joseph was born in Ft. Atkinson, WI, on September 19,1943. He was the son of the late Joseph E. McCune and Dolores Pahl McCune. Joseph served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1960 to 1964. He graduated from Janesville Wisconsin Senior High. Joseph married Carol Kay Lucas at Ft. Atkinson, WI. In 1965. They had three children. In 1986 he married Carole Crompton in Milton WI.
Joe was employed for thirty years at the General Motors assembly plant in Janesville, WI. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Carole moved to Tennessee,
Joe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Johnson City, TN, volunteered for sixteen years with the American Red Cross, was a Green Bay Packer fan, and could fix anything.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Carole McCune; son, Ronald (Diane) McCune, Goose Creek, SC; daughters, Debra Swanson, Marshfield, WI, Brenda McCune, Live Oak, TX; stepson, Michael Strunz, Johnson City, TN; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, and four sisters.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, TN, followed by a graveside service with military honors at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am.
