Jose Luis Ortiz found his eternal peace on January 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with love and devotion. Born in Harlingen, Texas, on July 6, 1955, to his cherished parents, Jose A. Ortiz and Guadalupe Ortiz, his life was a testament to the strength of family bonds and the joys of dedication.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jose A. and Guadalupe Ortiz, and the warm embrace of his grandmother, Encarnacion Salinas. Each of these profound losses shaped who he was – a man of unwavering resilience.
Joe, along with his brothers, faithfully carried on the trucking business that their father lovingly established (J.A. Ortiz & Sons Trucking). A tireless worker, he poured his heart and soul into providing for his adored family, dedicating countless hours to nurturing them and ensuring their success. His heart was fiercely loyal to the Houston Texans and Houston Astros, yet nothing brought him greater joy than watching his granddaughters on the softball field, their cheers echoing in his heart. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren. He cherished and loved his grandchildren unconditionally.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 52 years, Beatrice L. Ortiz, a partnership filled with shared dreams and unwavering support. His legacy continues through two remarkable daughters: Kristine (Ramon) Dones and Kimberly Ortiz, and the light of his life- his precious grandchildren: Ramon Alexander Dones, Kaitlin Dones, and Kathren Dones. He also shared his journey with loving siblings: Arturo (Ofelia) Ortiz, Micheal (Nelda) Ortiz, Lorraine Garcia, and Rose Marie (Oscar) Ramos, along with a multitude of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends who will forever remember the warmth of his spirit.
As we gather to honor his life, we are humbled to have Ramon Dones Jr, Ramon Alexander Dones, Omar Ortiz, Erick Ortiz, Oscar Ramos Jr. and Kristopher Garcia as pallbearers, upholding his memory with dignity and love.
Visitation will take place at Trinity Funeral Chapel in Harlingen, Texas on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., culminating in a heartfelt rosary at 7:00 p.m., lovingly conducted by Micaela Dones. The funeral services will follow on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Funeral Chapel, where Father Tom Pincelli will celebrate his journey home. Following the service, we will lay him to rest at the tranquil Restlawn Cemetery Park in La Feria, Texas, embracing him in our collective love.
