UNICOI - John "Leroy" Yarber, 75, Unicoi, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a Washington County native and was a son of the late Harry and Inis Roberts Yarber. John was the oldest living member of Buffalo Freewill Baptist Church. He was a faithful member for over 50 years. John retired from American Water Heaters. After retirement he enjoyed helping at Triple J Automotive. He loved watching Tennessee Vols Football, something he and his daughter Stacy enjoyed together.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacy Yarber; a grandson, Thomas "T.J' Yarber; a stepson, Tommy Tolley a nephew, Kevin Yarber; a sister-in-law, Lynda Yarber.
Survivors include a sister, Linda Ayers and her husband, James of Unicoi; two brothers, Ronnie Yarber and George Yarber and wife, Jackie; nieces, Cindy Bryant and husband, Tom, Jamie Black and husband, Justin, Kelly Yarber; nephew, Thomas Bryant and wife, Ashley; a special nephew, Jonah Black.
Funeral services for Leroy will be conducted on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Buffalo Valley Freewill Baptist Church, 110 Honeycutt Road, Unicoi with Rev. Bob Campbell and Rev. Austin Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, June 24, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the West Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City. Graveside services will follow the service Tuesday in Buchanan Cemetery, Limestone Cove. Active pallbearers will be James Ayers, Tom Bryant, Thomas Bryant, Justin Black, Jonah Black, Christopher Yarber, Jamie Black and Cindy Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Fowler, Richard Horton, Steve Rainbolt, Larry Yarber and Buddy Osborne.
