JOHNSON CITY - John Earl Sanders Jr., age 81, of Johnson City, passed away Monday, January 5th, 2026 at his home after a short, but fierce bout with cancer.

John was a devoted husband to his wife of 61 years. He was a partner in Hicks, Arnold, Haynes and Sanders Law Firm up until his retirement. John was a man who truly never met a stranger. He loved his girls with his whole heart and found great joy in being a proud "G-Dad." He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, "Big John" and "Big Sally" and his brother George Sanders.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include, Wife, Janie Sanders; Daughters, Kelley McNees and husband Don, Leslie Godfrey and husband Eddie; Sister, Sally Sanders; Stepmother, Claudette Sanders; Grandchildren, Duncan McNees, Patrick McNees, Mallory Godfrey, Maggie McNees, and Oliver Godfrey; Niece, Skye McCammon.
