CHUCKEY - John Henry Birchfield, 95, of Chuckey, Tennessee, passed away at his home on Friday, May 24, 2024.
John was born into the home of Samuel Birchfield and Polly Ann Hughes Birchfield in 1928.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. John loved the outdoors. He took great pride in gardening and raising livestock. He was very quick-witted, enjoyed playing the harmonica, and had a passion for reading.
John was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Edna Pearl Birchfield; one daughter, Mary Riddle; and several brothers and sisters.
Those remaining to cherish the memory of John include: daughter, Polly (Mike) Hughes; brother, Douglas (Delores) Hammitt; sisters, Mary Paxton and Mona "Tootsie" Young; one grandson, Scott (Kecia) Riddle; two granddaughters, Lori Hughes and Jennifer Neu; three great-grandsons, Thomas Riddle, Jacob Riddle, and Joshua Neu; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Clark.
A special thank you to Kecia Riddle for her constant loving care of Papaw and to John's care givers, Teresa and Faith.
A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held inside the Mausoleum Chapel at Monte Vista Memorial Park at 2:00 pm following the visitation. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the Mausoleum no later than 1:50 pm. Services will conclude at the Mausoleum Chapel.
Pallbearers will include: Scott Riddle, T.J. Riddle, Jake Riddle, Paul Bailey, Mitch Littleton, and John Cawood.
