Joel Dennis Miller March 11, 1936- April 9, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - Joel Dennis Miller, 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Joel was born March 11, 1936, in Johnson City, TN, to the late Noel Dennis Miller and Josephina Cruz Miller.
Joel graduated from Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University. Joel was a veteran of the United States Army, had worked as a police officer, and spent the last three decades of his career working for the Department of Human Services. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Joel was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Joyce Darlena Whitson Miller.
Survivors include a son, Greg (Linda); beloved grandchildren, Andrew (Brie) and Allison; a sister, Louise Miller; two sisters-in-law, Arlena Renfro and Shirley Hughes; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 pm in the chapel.
Joel will be laid to rest beside his wife on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 1:45pm.
