JONESBOROUGH - Joe Edward Mosier, age 87, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, passed quietly into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 25, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's.
Joe was born on January 17, 1938, in Madison County, North Carolina. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patsy Vines Mosier; parents, Cleve and Eunice Mosier; two sons, Patrick Joseph Mosier and Bryan Douglas Mosier; siblings, Jack Mosier (Virginia); Mary Ellen Baskett (Harold), and Betty Byrd (Billy).
He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Janice Blevins Mosier; his two daughters, Deborah Mosier-Claytor (Robert) and Glenda Jo Mosier, daughter-in-law Michele Kay (Long) Mosier; four beautiful granddaughters, Katherine Elise Mosier, Hannah Grace Mosier, Samantha Jane Mosier, and Linden Claytor-Standley (Zachary); and handsome grandson, Weston Claytor. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, dear friends and devoted neighbors.
He was a graduate of LSU School of Banking. He was a faithful husband, son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend, and most importantly, a Christ-like servant-leader. He was a blessing from God to all who knew him, whether he was assisting folks in their banking business, pumping gas at the old Sulphur Springs Bay Station, serving in his church, being a loyal friend and mentor, or just being the best "Pappaw" in the world.
Receiving of Friends service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Greenvale Missionary Baptist Church, Gray, where his life will be celebrated. The family will gather at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, for a graveside memorial service on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Beloved Pastor Travis Shaffer will conduct the services. Military honors will be provided.
