Joe Richard Gonzales April 27, 1950- April 6, 2024
Joe Richard Gonzales departed this life on Saturday, April 6, 2024. He was born on April 27, 1950, in La Mesa, New Mexico.
Joe had a full life. He grew up in a rural town in New Mexico where he went to school and raised chickens. His mom used to say that he was always raising something, growing something, or working to earn money. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and had a successful career as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. He had tours in Hawaii, California, and Nebraska. He enjoyed flying to visit the Philippines and other countries during his time in service, running around with his best friend, Sonny. Upon retirement, he liked to tinker around and invest in opportunities.
Joe loved to take things apart and fix them. Sometimes he would have more projects than time, but he was always willing to help others. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone about anything. Joe had many friends and was known to throw big parties in his younger days. He was also known for his crazy pranks and mischievous ways.
Joe loved his family, and he loved God. He measured his success in life by what he was able to teach and pass down to his kids.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Apodaca Gonzales, his father, Augustine Gonzales and his older brothers, Ruben, and Michael Gonzales.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Reynante of Cohoes, NY, Rebecca (Anthony Crews) Gonzales of Lodi, CA, Juan (Brittany) Gonzales of Falling Waters, WV, and Cruz (Bethani Ouellette) Gonzales of Piney Flats, TN as well as his grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Reynante of Cohoes, NY. Whenever I saw him, Joe was smiling and welcoming. I didn´t see him much but his gregarious nature shone through.
