JONESBOROUGH - Mrs. Joanne Painter Comer, age 98, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, at her residence.
Mrs. Comer was born on November 28, 1927, in Washington County, Tennessee, to the late Joseph & Reta Hyder Painter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Comer and a brother, Shelby Painter.
She was a member of Jonesborough Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Comer was a Bookkeeper for Gump Finance, Smith-Higgins Company (a pharmaceutical distributor) and Comer Insurance Agency.
Survivors include four children, Rebecca Comer (Ed Logan), Limestone, Lisa Hutchison, Little Rock, Arkansas, Rex Comer (Karen Rowell), Johnson City, and David Neil Comer (Norma Gregg), Jonesborough; grandchildren, Rachel Baker (Jason) and Melanie Rigney (Jacob); great-grandchildren, Abel, Seth, Evelina, Reed, and Shepard; sister-in-law, Phyllis Painter; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Private graveside services will be conducted on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Monte Vista Burial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Jonesborough Presbyterian Church, 128 W. Main Street, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
