JOHNSON CITY - Jimmy Ray Hill, 64, Johnson City, passed away at his residence, Tuesday, November 28, 2023, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Jimmy was a native of Johnson City and the son of Roma Davis Hill and the late Stanley Hill.
He was a carpenter and built many wonderful pieces of furniture. Jimmy enjoyed fishing and was an excellent cook. He had a passion for singing and playing guitar.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his daughter, Emily Elizabeth Hill (Carlos Martinez); grandchildren, Hayden & Liliana; sisters, Patty Ward and Cindy Stewart (Joe); aunts, Rometa, Teresa, Lennie, Lurlia; nieces & nephews, Carly Whitson (Gavin), Daniel McKinney (Jessica), Nathan Derry (Haley); cousins, Angie, JoAnn, Deborah, Christa, Tim, Juan, Esteban, Steve, Wendall, Sherry, Sissy and several others.
The funeral service for Jimmy will be conducted on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Pastor Dexter Brummitt, officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in Davis-Banks Cemetery, Limestone Cove. Pallbearers will be Rocky Cochran, Brandon Davis, Daniel McKinney, Gavin Whitson, Ricky Smith, Johnny Salinas, Carl Little, & Carlos Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Derry & Gentiva Hospice.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
