JOHNSON CITY - Jimmy Wayne Byers, 79, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed from this life to the next, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
Jimmy was born into the loving home of Garfield and Nora Whitson Byers of Butler, Tennessee.
He was a great man, who loved his family. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. Jimmy loved to make jokes and laugh. He was also a diehard Tennessee Volunteers and Dodgers fan.
Along with his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by the love of his life, and wife of 38 years, Norma Faye King Byers.
Those remaining to cherish his memory include: one son, Shannon (Rebecca Edwards) Byers; one sister, Jan (Perry) Woodie; one grandson, Andrew Byers (Rebekah Feathers); one granddaughter, Courtney (Tomorrow) Byers-White; and one great-grandson Trenton White.
A visitation service for family and friends is scheduled for 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, with the funeral service to begin at 7:00 pm.
A committal service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Pastor Chuck Babb of Sinking Creek Baptist Church will be officiating the service.
Pallbearers will include: Andrew Byers, Darby Bishop, Lee King, Wesley Peters, Landon South, Scotty Verran, Colby Bishop, and John John Whitson. Honorary Pallbearers include: Donnie Peters, Andy Bishop, Richard Stuphin, Don Verran, Ernest King, Russell Kyte, Tom Torbett, Willy Mathes, Bobby McKeahen, Ben Larkin, Eston Shaffer, David Peters, Tim Sluss, and John Whitson.
