Jewel White June 25, 1946 - April 14, 2024
Jewel White, age 78, passed peacefully into eternity on April 14, 2024.
She was born on June 25, 1946, to the late John and Vada Broyles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandson, Tommy Trobaugh and his wife, Akita Trobaugh.
Jewel was a person who invested in others, and she continued this throughout her life. If there was something to be done for other people, she was passionate to see it done. She was a driven and hard-working person that was able to laugh at herself.
She earned a Master of Education degree from Tusculum University and devoted herself to the education of thousands of children. Her compassion for students ranged far beyond the lessons she taught. She supported them in their sports and their lives outside of school. From the beginnings of her long teaching career, she brought home students with financial and family hardships for warm showers, clean clothes, and meals.
She was an eager part of the lives of grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed many hours on hikes, trampolines, and field trips with them, always teaching and loving.
She overcame many physical challenges in the later years of her life, but throughout, she remained more focused on others than herself. After weeks confined to her bed, her first questions for visitors were always focused on other's lives and their challenges.
She is survived by her husband, Don White; sons, Tom (Martha) Deaderick, Chris (Frieda) Deaderick; her son's father, Tom Deaderick Sr.; daughter, Patty (Jerry) Davis; grandsons, Zachary (Leslie) Deaderick, Ian (Deondra) Deaderick, Colton Deaderick, Shane (Ashley) Atkins; Garrett Deaderick; granddaughters, Kaleigh Deaderick, Kristin Lupori, Brittney Atkins (Jeremy); sisters, Jane (Gaines) Cox, Vicky (Chris) Correll, Sherry (Lawrence) Barker, Pam (Roger) McBride; several great-grandchildren.
