Jewel Ensor Obituary
WATAUGA - Jewel Imogene Hyder Ensor, 93, Watauga, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born July 20, 1930 in Carter County to the late Herbert & Sarah Berry Hyder. Jewel was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. She retired from Sterchi's of Elizabethton and was co-owner of TES Furniture, Morristown. She was a member of Sycamore Chapter # 163 Order of Eastern Star and the DAR. Jewel was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Howard Ensor; one sister, JoAnn Snyder; one brother, James Hyder and wife Linda; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eric Heaton and Pastor Teddy Lewis officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 in the Ensor Cemetery with the Jericho Bag Pipers officiating. Active Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elizabethton Shrine Club for Cripple Children Fund, donations may be made through any Carter County Bank. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
