Jerry Lee "Popoo" Sneed

March 20, 2025

BLUFF CITY - Jerry Lee "Popoo" Sneed, age 75, of Bluff City, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Jerry was born in Bristol, Virginia to the late Homer and Oleta Simerly Sneed. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald Sneed, David Sneed, and Anthony Sneed; one sister, Mollie Stevens; and his step father, Clarence Harr.

Jerry retired from Sprint Phone Company after serving 46 years as a lineman. He also retired from the United States Army Reserves after serving his country for 25 years. Jerry was a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church and loved fishing with his best friend, Don Lady, he enjoyed Sullivan East sports but most of all, Jerry loved being a daddy and a Popoo. He loved taking care of his family and going to Pit Row Diner and Pizza Plus visiting his friends.

Those left to cherish Jerry's memory include his beloved wife, Linda Sneed of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shawna Lee Perry and Brad Perry of Bristol, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Lee Sneed "J", Jr. and Christy of Limestone, TN; two grandchildren, Tanner Perry and Leslie of Bluff City and Molly Viscardis and Chandler of Maryville, TN; one great granddaughter, Stevie Leigh Perry; a special sister-in-law, Judy Malone of GA; and several nieces, nephews and other family members near and dear also survive.

A celebration of life gathering will be conducted from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Poplar Ridge Christian Church CLC.

A graveside service will be conducted at Mountain Home National Cemetery at a later date.

A special thank you to the Johnson City Medical Center ICU department for the loving care given to Mr. Sneed during his illness.

I worked closely with Jerry at Dealers Auto Auction for over 5 years. I´ve never known a more dedicated person. He could answer any question. It was easy to see his love for the Lord. All of us at DAA are like family and he will be greatly missed. Rest easy my friend.

I've only known Jerry the past 8 years through both Sullivan East Athletic Events and working with him at his retirement job at Dealers Auto Auction of East TN. There are so many things that can be said about the great man Jerry was that I could not cover them all but here are just a few that I have witnessed. Jerry is one of the hardest working men I have ever met. Honestly, he is a "work horse" as Gary would say. Always on top of the task at hand and going the extra mile each and every day. His work ethic and integrity are unmatached. Jerry was dedicated, loyal and he was generous with his time, gifts and talents. He looked after others and genuinely cared for their wellbeing. I loved to hear Jerry call out "SAMMY" on the radio and the times he would stop by my desk to share pictures and videos of his family. He was so PROUD. Jerry's passing is a huge loss to the Sullivan East Community, his Family and Friends, and to all of us at DAA East TN. He will be missed!

Sullivan East Patriot Nation

March 21, 2025

The Patriot Nation has lost its greatest fan. Our Prayers are with Jerry's family and may GOD comfort them during this time of loss. His memory will forever be here at Sullivan East. The example Jerry left for us all is one that every person should follow. He personified how people should walk this earth. What an honor and blessing we all had in getting to be around Jerry and seeing first hand how a TRUE PATRIOT is supposed to be. Thank you Jerry! We love you!
