Jerome “Jerry” C. Littlefield, 75, Detroit Lakes, MN, died February 6, 2025, in Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Jerome Chester Littlefield was born December 18, 1949, in Fargo, ND, to Rodney and Verna (Schatz) Littlefield.
An alumnus of Fargo South High School, Jerry furthered his education by attending business college in Fargo, ultimately graduating with a degree in Hotel/Motel Management. This educational grounding enabled him to carve a successful path in his chosen field, and he remained passionate about his career throughout his life.
Jerry's career in the hospitality industry began when he started working for the Holiday Inn. His remarkable success led him to travel extensively across the United States for the next 40 years, where he played a pivotal role in establishing new Holiday Inn hotels for the company. His commitment to excellence and strong work ethic earned him respect and admiration within the industry.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry was known for his quick wit and good sense of humor. He was a beloved figure among his friends, often remembered for the joy he brought to others through laughter and camaraderie. In the latter years of his life, due to health reasons, Jerry moved closer to his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Bonnie Littlefield in Detroit Lakes. This transition allowed him to forge new friendships in the lakes area and spend quality time with family.
Jerry had a variety of hobbies that reflected his active spirit. He found great joy in raising pigeons in his backyard and in a coop he built, affectionately named "Tee Bird Loft." His passion for racing pigeons brought him success as he earned numerous ribbons throughout the years. Additionally, Jerry was an avid football fan who appreciated the great outdoors, embodying a love for nature and sport that enriched his life.
Jerry is survived by his children, Shane Littlefield, Lindsay (Ryan) Schounmaker, and Anika (Nathan) Pillatzke; two brothers, Rodney (Ann) Littlefield and Ron (Bonnie) Littlefield; his mother, Verna Littlefield; two grandchildren, Kennedy and Ryker; and many nieces and nephews.
