Jan Turner Obituary

JONESBOROUGH - Jan Debra Turner, 72, of Jonesborough, TN passed away on Sunday, May 11th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Hyattsville, MD to Herman and Dorothy Bradtmueller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jon. She is survived by her husband Thomas A. Turner; three children Blaine, Matthew and wife Sara, and Kristin; three grandchildren Bryant, Rachel, and Samuel; sister-in-law Barbara; niece Arianne; and nephew Jon.
Jan served her country in the United States Army where she met her husband of 51 years. She was passionate about crafting, especially weaving and spinning. She was a longtime volunteer at Rocky Mount Historic Site and loved demonstrating history through reenacting. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, bowling, and being involved with her church. She was an active member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Johnson City, serving on the altar guild, musical ensemble, prison ministry, and LWML. She was a Christian who loved to share her faith with everyone whenever she got the chance and used her amputation to let her faith shine brightly.
A celebration of life will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on May 23rd from 6 pm to 7 pm.

Jan was the strongest woman I ever knew. she said it like it was and stood by her word. she was a giving person and showed her love to me often. She wove me a table runner as a surprise and I cherish it and think of her when I see it. I know she is in heaven now and resting. I am praying for you, her family , I know you will miss her.

I remember her as a spunky gal. She said it as it was lol. She was a good lady. I worked with her at Rocky mount along with her precious daughter Kristin and her husband Tom. May she rest in peace.

We are sad at Jan's passing. Our deepest sympathy to all the family whom she dearly loved. Jan was a partner in prison ministry with Kay for several years and made such a difference in the lives of the women she met. They loved her too. Jan was a gentle, generous, and beautiful soul, and stalwart in her faith. May the Lord comfort you all in your loss.
