James Allen Pruitt August 14, 2024
GREENE COUNTY - James Allen Pruitt, age 92, of Greene County, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. He was the son of the late James Roy Pruitt and Velva Redmond Pruitt.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 59 years, Dorothy Wagner Pruitt; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Bristow Pruitt; two brothers, Don Pruitt and Rex Pruitt; and one sister, Jean Shelton.
Survivors include two sons, David (Donna) Pruitt and Robert (Michele) Pruitt; three Grandchildren: Joshua (Janel) Pruitt, Monica (Daniel) McMurray, and Rebekah (Alan) Stockdale; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Mollie Pruitt; and several nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the early 1950's and witnessed an atomic bomb blast in Nevada during his service time. In 2014, he was privileged to travel to Washington with the Honor Flight of Northeast Tennessee to visit war memorials, a memory he cherished for the rest of his life.
He worked for 35 years for Swift and Company and retired from Superior Business Forms.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Greeneville.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing, picnicking and even the task of cutting and moving firewood. He cherished time spent with family.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville. Funeral services will be Monday, August 19, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Pruitt officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on August 20, 2024, at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens in Greeneville at 11:00 am.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Pruitt, Trent Pruitt, Daniel McMurray, Colton McMurray, Isaiah McMurray, and Alan Stockdale.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:15 am Tuesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
The Greene County Honor Team and the Tennessee National Guard Honors Team will conduct a military graveside service.
