James Donaldson Obituary

JOHNSON CITY - James Edward "Ed" Donaldson, 92, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, after a brief illness.

Ed was born December 24, 1931, to the late Richard Donaldson and Beatrice Taylor Donaldson in Knoxville, Tennessee. He married the love of his life, Mary Long, on January 15, 1953. They lived in Knoxville until 1969 when his work relocated him to Johnson City, where they have resided since. He was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty and Louise and a granddaughter, Sarah.

He is survived by his wife of almost 71 years, Mary; children, Jim (Catherine), Rick (Becky), and Valerie Peer; grandchildren, Trey Donaldson, Rick Donaldson, Wes Peer, Scott Peer, and Emily Riggleman; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Hogan; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Washington County Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to please meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm.
