James Darnell Obituary

GATE CITY, VA – James "Bud" Darnell, age 81, of Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord and was reunited with the love of his life, Patsy Darnell on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

He was born in Scott County, VA on March 27, 1942 to the late Callie Mae Edwards Darnell and George M. Darnell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Darnell; brothers, Fred and Larry Darnell; sisters, Georgia Mae Ervin, Shirley Lawson and Kathy Sexton

Bud is survived by his sons, James Mickey Darnell and wife Rochelle, Rickey Darnell and wife Leanna, Jason Darnell and wife Jackie; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Frazier (Eddie) and Virginia Grizzle; brothers, Earl Darnell (Charlene) and Hubert Darnell (Billie); along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2023 in the chapel at Colonial Funeral Home and anytime at the residences. Graveside service will follow visitation at Adams Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
