James Allan Beutel May 11, 1934- June 16, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - James (Jim) Allan Beutel, 90 years of age, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. His battle with serious health issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.
He was born May 11, 1934 in Council Bluffs, IA. He was the son of William C. Beutel and Thelma D. Buzza, and brother of Bill and Peg, and they have preceded him in death.
Jim served in the USMC as a tank mechanic from May 11, 1951 until his honorable discharge on May 10, 1955 with a discharge rank of Sergeant; having served in Korea from 1953 to 1955.
He received his GED from the Omaha, Nebraska School System in 1951. After his discharge from the service, Jim served seven years with the Omaha Police Dept. He then went to work for Greyhound Lines. and moved to California where he met the love of his life, Yvette. They were married on November 22, 1974.
Jim was an avid lover of all things related to airplanes. His hobby was building models and he had over 90 completed models in his hobby room, along with several given to family and friends over the years.
Jim enjoyed traveling and loved cruising to interesting places and having completed more than 13 cruises in his traveling days.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Yvette, of 49 years, daughter Deb Sherritt of Kingsland, GA, two grandchildren (Jim Thomas and Linda Partain), three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was an awesome husband, father, grandfather and friend. His love of life and devotion to his family will always be forefront in our memories.
Jim will receive a military funeral on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City. For those attending this service, please meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM.
