Jacklyn "Jackie" Marie Reed (also known as Sasha), born in Annapolis, Maryland and raised in Johnson City, Tennessee, went to her heavenly home on October 9, 2023. Jackie was tragically taken from us at the young age of 30, due to a senseless act of violence. Although she leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, we have gained the best guardian angel.
At age 8, Jackie was introduced to the world of gymnastics. She spent 20 hours a week practicing her skills as a gymnast, and in return, winning many competitions while also creating unforgettable friendships with her coaches and teammates. Meadowview Gymnastics Academy in Kingsport, Tennessee became her home away from home for the next 10 years.
After graduating from Science Hill High School in 2011, her adventurous spirit led her on a remarkable journey. Jackie briefly attended East Tennessee State University where she launched a successful fashion show featuring bold pieces she designed and sewed herself. Shortly after, her creative talents and determination led her to pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion designer, leading her to relocate to New York City. For the next 5 years, she immersed herself in the high-fashion and modeling industry where her talents flourished.
As the years passed, Jackie's heart only grew kinder, and her soul sweeter. She inspired others by being unapologetically herself, exuding confidence that caused a ripple effect. She was an effortless role model. To know Jackie is to know love! She loved everyone she encountered no matter their walk of life.
She is survived by her adoring daughter, Kent, who became the light and purpose of her life. She was a dedicated mother, who poured her love and creative soul into Kent, leaving her with cherished memories and a legacy of warmth and compassion.
In addition to her daughter, Jackie is survived by her parents; Johnny Reed and Lani Reed; siblings, Riffy Sagun, Eldon Sagun, Anter Sagun, Jonathan Reed, Rebecca Manookian, Stacey Reed, Anna Reed, Mary Reed, and Jackson Reed; niece Rylan and nephew Everett, who shared in the many joys and trials of life with her. She was a pillar of strength and knew exactly how to fulfill her role as a beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie, and treasured friend.
Jackie's memory will forever be cherished. Her unwavering love for God brings us solace, knowing that she has found eternal peace. We take comfort knowing that she is now in His loving presence, surrounded by grace and serenity. May her light continue to shine in our lives.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that donations be made to organizations and charities dedicated to the research and support of mental illness with focus on Schizophrenia.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2023. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend and share in the celebration of her beautiful spirit.
