Ima Jean Ramsey Hendrix July 14, 2024
ERWIN - Ima Jean Ramsey Hendrix, age 86, of Erwin, died on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Hendrix was a native of Yancey County, North Carolina, but resided in Unicoi County the majority of her life. She was the daughter of the late Johnny and Ruth Hensley Ramsey, of Bee Log, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Hendrix in 2010, son, James Daniel "Danny" Hendrix, in 2021, one sister, Ruby Ramsey Wilson, and three brothers, Glenn, Kenneth and Don Ray Ramsey.
Mrs. Hendrix is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Terri Hendrix, of Erwin, daughter and son-in-law, Darlene Sheehan and Dennis Shelton, of Erwin, daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Tommy Greene, of Erwin, one brother, Tate Ramsey, of Arden North Carolina, five grandchildren, Tim Sheehan II, Jake Campbell, Mike Sheehan, Stephen Hendrix II, and Amanda Hendrix Bynion, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hendrix retired from Red Cap Industries after 25 years of service as a seamstress. She was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church, Eastern Start Chapter # 276, and the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center. Mrs. Hendrix and her husband traveled extensively in their younger years. Her greatest passion, however, right up to her final days, was listening to gospel music, and in particular, her favorite - The Primitive Quartet.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Kevin Laws and Southside Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm on Thursday, until service time at Valley Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Mrs. Hendrix to: Southside Freewill Baptist Church, 1313 Chestoa Pike, Erwin, TN 37650.
