ELIZABETHTON - Harriet June (McMillen-Minnich-Flory) Swank, age 84, of Elizabethton, TN, passed away on March 4, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 15, 1940 to William Leroy (Roy) McMillen and Alta (Holsapple) McMillen in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. Harriet is preceded in death by her mother on Oct. 30, 1991, her father on Dec. 5, 1994 and her second husband, Robert R. Flory, on May 13, 1996 whom she married on July 10, 1973. Also preceding her in death was her mother and father-in-law Kenneth and Bertha Swank Sr., her step-daughter, Kim Swank-Jones-Miller and sister-in-law Nina McMillen. Harriet is survived by her 3rd husband, H. Duane Swank, whom she married Jan. 30, 2003. She is also survived by her daughter, Dianna (Chris) Blumenstock of Elizabethton, TN; two grandsons Alex (Miwa) Blumenstock of Tokyo, Japan and Eric Blumenstock of Elizabethton, TN; one great grandson, Simon Blumenstock of Tokyo, Japan. One step-daughter Terri (Dave) Patton of Matthews, NC; one step-son Richard (Rick) Swank Bright and his partner Daniel Fontella of Naples, FL; seven step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and a brother William A. (Bill) McMillen of Miamisburg, OH. Also surviving is her first husband, the father of her daughter, Dewaine Minnich of Arcanum, OH. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and former in-laws also survive. Harriet is also survived by her second husband's three children: Jeannie Hall, Greg Flory and Robert D. Flory, along with their children and grandchildren. Harriet graduated from Arcanum High School, Arcanum, OH, in 1958 as valedictorian of her class and lived most of her life in the Arcanum area before moving to Tennessee in Nov. 2005. She worked at the Dayton City Board of Education for 5 years, had a 4 year break to become pregnant and be an at-home mom with her daughter. In 1967 she went to work at Roberts Consolidated in Dayton which eventually became DAP Inc. In 1997 the business moved to Tipp City, OH from where she retired in June 2002. Harriet along with her husband were former members of the Mountain Empire Model Railroaders Club and the George L. Carter Chapter of the NRHS both located in Johnson City, TN. Harriet enjoyed crocheting and traveling but most of all she enjoyed her daughter, grandsons and great-children. Visitation will be held on March 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, 204 N. Main St. Arcanum, OH 45304, with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Harriet will be buried in the Ithaca Cemetery, in Ithaca, OH, next to her 3rd husband, Duane Swank.
