Gretchen Pavlik Obituary

Gretchen Sommerfeld Pavlik

February 28, 1938 -

October 5, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet momma, Gretchen Sommerfeld Pavlik. She was a devoted Catholic who maintained a strong relationship with our loving God and went to be with Him on October 5, 2024. She was born on February 28, 1938, in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Gretchen, alongside her husband of an incredible 61 years, Anthony Pavlik, celebrated life together. Their journey landed them in Johnson City, TN in the 1970's when they started a printing business. She was a dedicated mother of four and always put her family first. The memories of childhood her children share is unprecedented and will never be forgotten. She had a deep passion for tennis and golf, and dedicated many hours to coaching aspiring tennis players

Throughout her life, Gretchen found joy in nurturing her family, leaving a legacy of love and happiness that will be forever cherished by her surviving relatives. She is survived by her son, Tony Pavlik, and three daughters, Maryann and Eddie Williams, Terrybeth Kolarick, and Catherine and Robert Heath, as well as 13 adoring grandchildren who meant the world to her.

Gretchen was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Pavlik and her parents, Hans Sommerfeld, and Annabelle Sommerfeld.

Gretchen's life will be celebrated by the family with an intimate, private funeral Mass. Please share Memories and condolences with her family via www.morrisbaker.com.

Hello there, this post may come as a surprise to Gretchen´s family as my name will sound very unfamiliar, considering the fact that my family or I had never really met any other family members than Gretchen and Anthony. We were their neighbors across the street, for all these years. The first thing which comes to our mind when I think of her is her smile and her warm loving voice. I still picture her sitting at the porch on that chair and waving hello every time we pass by. She would approach us on our evening walks and share how her day has been going , and would ask us the same ! She and Anthony were one of those constants in our neighborhood which made us feel homely and welcome since we bought the house. Our dear Friend Abby has kept us in the loop with their news off and on since we moved out and we had been so thankful to her for the same. It broke our hearts when we got to know that life has been little different for them since Covid, specially when Anthony passed away. We are deeply sorry to hear the news of Gretchen, but we would like to take opportunity to share lovely memories of her and be present in spirit for her family when they grieve this loss and celebrate her life. Our sincere condolences to the entire family. You all are in our( me and my husband- Mihir´s) thoughts and prayers.
