Glenn Allred Obituary

Glenn E. Allred

September 4, 2025

ELIZABETHTON - Glenn E. Allred, 86, of the Siam Community, Elizabethton, formerly of Talbott, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, in the Johnson City Medical Center after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Glenn was the son of the late Dorothy Hall Allred and J E Allred. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Oliver Allred.

Glenn spent his adult life in retail management, starting at Montgomery Ward in Elizabethton. He also worked for Super Dollar, TG&Y and Family Dollar. His work sent him to Fredericksburg, VA., Hickory, NC., Jackson, TN., Beckley, W V., Greeneville, TN and Longview, Tx, He settled in Talbott, TN, in 1974.

Glenn loved the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and traveled to South Dakota for a hunting trip.

He moved to the Siam Community in 2017 and married Judy Estep. They bought a small farm, where they had horses and dogs. He was able to return to his front porch to see his beloved mountains before he passed.

Glenn is survived by his wife Judy and his daughter Anna Maria (Don) Haney of Knoxville. He leaves behind two brothers-in-law: Mike Estep and Melvin Oliver and a host of friends from Talbott to Elizabethton and beyond. He also has several nieces and nephews. Also his four legged furry buddy "Jamie."

He was a member of Alpha Baptist Church in Morristown where he sometimes taught Sunday School.

Glenn was an active member of the Mossy Creek Cruzers, a classic car club in Jefferson City. He was instrumental in the fundraisers for the Toys for Tots and their annual car show.

Glenn did not want a funeral service. It was his wish to be cremated.

He loved the verses: Colossians 3: 22-25: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward."
