Genene "Toppy" Icenhour DiGregorio, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Top was born in Lenoir, North Carolina, on December 29, 1928, to the late Mamie and Edward Icenhour. She and her identical twin sister were raised in Lenoir, where she graduated from Lenoir High School before beginning work there as a telephone operator.
In December 1951, she married Alfred L. DiGregorio before moving to Brooklyn, New York, for a short time and then eventually to Johnson City, where she served as Little League President throughout the 1960's. She worked for General Motors in New Jersey, The Prescription Shop, and was also co-owner of Alpine Liquor Store. She then became a full-time homemaker, mother, and grandmother. After her retirement, she enjoyed her bridge games and Friday luncheons. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Geneve Tabilio and Kathrine Icenhour.
In addition to her husband, those left to cherish her memory include: children, Alfred S. DiGregorio and wife Robin, Kathryn Hatjioannou and husband Jason; grandchildren, Alison Fussell and husband Matt, Lauren Snapp and husband Scott; great grandchildren, Ryan Fussell, Avery Fussell, Luke Fussell, Reynolds Fussell, Caroline Snapp and Blair Snapp; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Toppy's family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Johnson City, with Funeral Service following immediately thereafter. A committal will take place afterward at 2:00 PM at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Toppy's honor to the Johnson City Washington County Animal Shelter or to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

I have fond memories of Uncle Al, Aunt Top, Little Al and Kathy coming to Brooklyn NY to visit the cousins. My mother Rosalie DiGregorio has recently passed as well, so Uncle Al is the last of that generation. God Bess you all.
