Frederick Oehrlein Obituary

Dr. Frederick Ellsworth Oehrlein, Jr, 73 passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 at 10:00 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 320 12th St, Columbus, GA 31901. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday, October 27, 2024 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. 31907.
Dr. Oehrlein was born April 2, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Frederick Ellsworth Oehrlein, Sr. and Margaret Dolrita Kiernan Oehrlein. He completed his undergraduate at Stony Brook University in 1973 with a BA in Sociology. He obtained his graduate degree at Emory University in 1976 as a Physician's Assistant. From there he continued his education at The Medical College of Georgia where he graduated with honors and obtained his Medical Degree. He became board certified in Anesthesia in 1993 with a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiafrom University of Alabama in 1995. He served 9 years in the United States Army Reserveand was honorably discharged as a Major in 1998. He worked as an Anesthesiologist at St. Francis Hospital for 20 years before becoming an independent anesthesiologist for various health care facilities in Columbus, GA.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Pat Oehrlein, sons, Daniel Oehrlein (Jennifer) of Augusta, GA, Major Daryl Oehrlein also of Augusta, GA, David Oehrlein (Victoria) of Waverly Hall, GA, Dr. Andy of Columbus, GA, sister: Margaret Pincus (David) of Chesterfield, MO, grandchildren, Addie, Kayla, and Oliver Oehrlein.
Frederick Oehrlein was a loving, loyal husband, caring father, and proud grandfather. He loved sharing stories of his grandchildren, and spending time with them. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, sister and brother-in-law, and spending time at the lake with his family while listening to his eclectic music.Fred was an intelligent, kind, loving man with an unmatched work ethic.He was a jack of all trades. There's nothing he wouldn't try to fix himself.
