Floyd Olan Adkins January 22, 1957- June 20, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - Floyd Olan Adkins, affectionately known as "Pap-Pap," passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 67 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
He was born on January 22, 1957, in Erwin, Tennessee, to the late Backus and Loretta Adkins. In addition to his parents, Floyd was also preceded in death by his brother, Dallas Smith, and his sister, Trula Moore.
Floyd grew up attending Unicoi County schools. He dedicated 40 years of his life to a fulfilling career as a mechanic, retiring from South Roan 66. Floyd's passion for working on cars didn't end there, his career-turned-hobby brought him much joy in his retirement.
Floyd was a God-fearing man who sometimes attended Church of God. His life could be characterized by the profound love for his family and friends. He cherished moments sitting on his porch, engaging in heartfelt conversations with family and friends. He was also known for the special bond he had with his dog, Puggy.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Suzie Adkins; children, Angie Adkins Pearrell (Shawn Pearrell), Gary Adkins, and Larry Adkins (Janet Valdez); his grandchildren, Brittni Pearrell, Justin Pearrell, Seth Hartman, Devon Adkins, Salissa Adkins, Ethan Adkins, Lori Jane Montejo, Cynthia Montejo, and Mark Valdez; and great-grandchild, Ryder Danielle McCoy. He is also survived by his siblings, Ilene Price, Andrew Adkins, Barbara Stout, and Roger Adkins; along with many nieces and nephews.
Floyd will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his faith, and his friends.
