Fain Shelton Obituary

Fain Shelton

Fain entered into our Lord's presence in February to be reunited with her son Ronnie, parents Harold and Nellie, and brother Jerry. Surviving family are: husband Robert; sons Randy and Pat; daughters Eleonora, Dr. Elaine and Judy; brother Jimmy; sister Bettie; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a stepson and three stepdaughters.

Close to her heart was her devotion to her Christian faith. She had an extra-ordinary knowledge of the Bible. Her life represented unconditional love for her family and friends as she was always willing to give her support through gifts and prayers-for many, she never gave up on them during troubled times.

Fain liked to fish, prepare meals, oil paint, shop, dress with flashy accessories, and negotiate best deals, particularly in real estate as a broker. She loved books, gardening, flowers and photography.

Family and friends used these words to describe her: a devoted military wife of 53 years, a go-getter, hard-headed, lots of fun, good hearted, generous, never met a stranger, loving, caring, compassionate, mischievous, intuitive, beautiful, kind, ease interacting with children, zest for life, and a contagious sweet smile. When you received a warm embrace from Fain, you had peace and knew what she said and felt was genuine.

Family is especially thankful to the compassionate and caring staff at Durham-Hensley, Gentiva Hospice and special friends, T.R. and James.

Pallbearers are Matthew, Sean, Cecil, Stevie, Little Red, and Dr. Rick.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Art, Roy, Larry, and Willie.

Fain consistently prayed for her family and on their birthdays read them a poem that she learned in Bible School as a young girl:

"Many happy returns to the day of your birth. May sunshine and gladness be given. May the dear Father prepare you on earth for a beautiful birthday in heaven." She will be greatly missed and those who share her faith will one day be reunited with her.

Visitation: Sunday, March 2, 1 – 3 pm at Jeffers Funeral Chapel, Afton, TN. Service following with Pastor Craig Shelton officiating.

Graveside Service: Monday, March 3, 1 pm at Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City, TN.

With heavy a heart, my beautiful Aunt Fain has gone to be with Jesus. I am heartbroken, she meant so much to me , I always loved going down to see her and Uncle Robert. Our talks of flowers and how to garden and her homemade vegetable soup and cornbread made me a happy person!! She was such a kind and giving lady and worked hard all her life. She gave me one of her paintings that looked Mediterranean and is hanging in my home. I told her many times I wish she was closer so I could help her more. We loved sitting outside and just talk. If I found flower ( pansies) on my front porch I knew who brought them. The gates opened wide when she entered heaven , Well Done My Child! Aunt Fain your journey is over , pray for those of us left . We will miss you immensely. May Your Memory Be Eternal
