Evelyn Ferguson Obituary

GRAY - Evelyn Sells Ferguson, age 90, of Gray went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.

She was the daughter of the late Emory and Pearl Keefauver Sells and was born January 16, 1933, in Washington County, TN. She was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School.

Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Gray and was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. She retired from the Washington County Department of Education working at the central office in Jonesborough.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, John E. Ferguson; her beloved son, Michael John "Mickey" Ferguson; brothers, Russell P. Sells, John W. Sells and Allen Sells; sisters, Ruth Sells Hale, and Grace Sells Jenkins.

She is survived by two sons, Marty Ferguson and wife Cindy of Cary, NC, and Matthew Ferguson of Gray; "Nana" will be sadly missed by two granddaughters, Lauren Reese Ferguson and Bennett Ferguson of Cary, NC; Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, her church family, and many friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 17, 2023, from 1:00 pm -3:00 pm at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor John Herdman and Pastor Jody Jenkins officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at Gray Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, 197 Suncrest Street, Gray, TN 37615.
