Eugene "Gene" Tipton

JOHNSON CITY - Eugene "Gene" Tipton, 92, of Johnson City, Tennessee left this world to be with the Lord and his mother. Born on March 8, 1933, in Johnson City to the late Fred and Polly Pate Tipton Miller, Gene spent his life rooted in the community he so cherished.

Known for his curiosity and creative spirit, Gene was an avid collector of pulp fiction magazines, vinyl records and autographs from many movie stars and singers, a reflection of his deep appreciation for the golden age of entertainment. Gene was also a published author and delighted in sharing his knowledge and passion for his culture through his written words.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sister, JoAnn Cutshall.

Gene is survived by his brother, Bob (Lorrie) Tipton; half brothers, Bill (Gail) Tipton, Dennis Tipton and Raymond Tipton; half sister, Betty (Danny) Pugh along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gene's family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M., with services to follow at Appalachian Funeral Home in Johnson City, the Reverend Drew Leonard will be officiating the services. Gene will be placed to rest at Monte Vista Memorial Park, those planning to attend may either meet at the cemetery or proceed from the funeral home with the family.
