JOHNSON CITY - Ellazene Mary Wells, 93, of Johnson City, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Born on August 11, 1931, in Mars Hill, NC, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jeff and Lois Whitt. A devoted homemaker, Zene dedicated her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Boones Creek Methodist Church and a member of the VFW Auxiliary 2108, Johnson City. Her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and strong Christian character were a guiding light to all who knew her. She touched countless lives with her kindness, grace, and her deep love for the Lord. Zene had a joyful heart and found delight in life's simple pleasures. She loved attending yard sales and estate sales, cheering on her favorite basketball teams (both college and professional) and spending quiet moments watching the Game Show Network or reading a good book. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and strength that will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come.

Including her parents, Zene is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry A. Wells, Jr.; daughter, Mary R. Helms; son, Jimmy Wells; son-in-law, Dennis Seals; grandson, Glendon Seals; step grandson, Billy Ellis; brothers, Vance Whitt and wife Irene, and Jack Whitt and wife Peggy; sisters, Mary Toledo Ball and husband Joe, and Jo Garrison and husband Bill; and a special niece, Connie Ball.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Edith Ellis and husband Fred of Elizabethton, TN and Wrenda Seals of Annville, KY; grandchildren, Tony Helms (Wendy), Christal Hall (Don), Betsy Bingham (Jeremy), Denise Morgan (Ken), Heather Forinash (Timmy), Ashlee Willett (Melissa), and step granddaughter, Angie Harvey (Tracy); fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Brenda Jones and special neighbor, Lori Ratliff.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, from 2:00 to 3:00pm.

Zene will be laid to rest beside her husband following at 3:00pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Johnson City, officiated by Pastor Mark Harrod.

Pallbearers will be Nic Fugate, Joey Fugate, Dylan Harris, Austin Bingham, Johnathan Helms, Bentley Forinash, and Easton Forinash.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 260 Headtown Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659 or the charity of your choice.

The family would like to give a special Thank You for the love and care that was given to our mother during her last days at ICU Franklin Woods, 5200 wing of Johnson City Medical Center, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, and Amedisys Hospice.
