JOHNSON CITY - Eleanor "Ellie" Jean Baehr, 71, Johnson City went home to be with Jesus, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident to Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Jess Willard Alford and Thelma Edith Lawless Alford. Ellie was a member of the Day of Deliverance Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and having family day on the weekend. Ellie spent majority of her time at church. She loved going to Bingo with her friends. Ellie spent her mornings watching game shows and the evening watching her westerns. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a devoted Christian. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Alford.
Survivors include her son, David Diehl and his wife, Shannon of Gray; a sister, Joyce Hodges of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Kaleb Diehl, Joshua Diehl and Piper Reed; the father of her child and longtime friend, David Christian Diehl of Johnson City; special friends, Allison Dalton, Janice Honeycutt, Terry Putzstuck, Helen McGrew and family; her entire church family; also several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 17, 2023 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Dewey Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Graveside services will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 2:00 PM. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends.
