Ed was one of the first people I met when I moved to Johnson City in 1980. I admired his civic involvement and solid love for his family and community. He will be missed.

I attend St. Mary's Catholic Church and have come to know both Jenny and Ed. I always told them they were my favorite couple. I can't imagine the loss of someone you had been married to for more than 50 years. I loved seeing them at church and hearing Ed read the scriptures. His presence will be missed. May he rest in peace, and rise in glory! And, may the angels and saints offer comfort and peace to all those left behind to cherish his memory.

Back in the day, Ed and Jennie were avid fans and great supporters of tennis. I well remember them at the various JC area tennis events--especially when Ben was playing. Ed was a gentleman and a true student of the game. He will be missed.

Jennie, Ben and Eddie, I am so sorry that Edwin was so ill. He was a consistently lovely person. I am sorry I am out of town and will not be able to attend the service. I am grateful for Edwin´s life and his hard work on our behalf in our community. Frances Jackson

My husband and I were trying to think of the first time we met Edwin and Jennie! He and Jennie used to have consecutive hours at the first Adoration Chapel at St. Mary´s when it was located at the rectory! Maybe it was around that time.
Over the years, we saw each other regularly at church events, but three personal incidents stand out in my mind. Of course, Edwin was always a patron of the arts, and he and our daughter share that connection. He and Jennie opened their home on the hill to host her engagement party with all the graciousness and generosity they always extended. It really touched my heart. (I suspect it may have been Edwin who nominated her for the JC Arts Council!)
Another incident is Edwin´s insistence on calling my grandchildren who live in Johnson City by their full given first names. He told me one time he didn´t understand why their parents had given them such beautiful names only to shorten them! I found that endearing!
But perhaps Edwin left the most impressive impact on me through his role as lector. He proclaimed the Word of God with such a strong and clear voice, with such calm assurance and at such a consistent pace that, to me, he was the perfect example of how it should be done!
When his goddaughter, my granddaughter, found out about Edwin´s passing, she was wrapping up a family vacation to England and Scotland. She texted me that she cried her "eyes out" when her Mom told her! I can understand why! He was loved by many and will be missed by many.
Requiescat in pace, dear sir!

I am so heartbroken to learn of the death of my dear friend, Edwin. He and Jennie were the very first couple we met when my husband and I moved to Johnson City and they have been dear friends ever since. Edwin was so very generous. He will be missed by many.
