Edward William Yarwood
UNICOI - Edward William Yarwood, 77, of Unicoi, Tennessee passed away at home after a lengthy, courageous cancer battle. He was born on April 30, 1947 in Ellenville, NY to John and Lorraine (Schueler) Yarwood. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Linda (Morris) Yarwood; daughters Kristine Yarwood (Unicoi, TN), Kathleen (Anton) Zakharov (Jacksonville, FL), Maryellen Yarwood (Camillus, NY), Patricia (Travis) Jones (Melbourne, FL), and Julie Yarwood (Bismarck, ND); grandchildren Hannah, Brady, Willa, and Jack Jones; brothers Paul (Vicki) and Steve Yarwood; sister Mary (John) Warner; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. He leaves behind three cats, Casey, Charlotte, and Pippin.
Mr. Yarwood grew up in Vestal, NY. He was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Vestal High School and from Paul Smith's College. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He worked at IBM, earning several service and suggestion awards. After 30 years, he retired and moved to Tennessee. He had a second career in armed security, where he served as an area supervisor.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served as an usher. He was a volunteer firefighter in Vestal, NY, a Life Member of the Liverpool, NY and Unicoi, TN fire departments. He was an amateur radio operator (HAM) and member of Carter County Amateur Radio Club. He served in the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). Mr. Yarwood, a lifelong outdoorsman, was a member of both Ducks Unlimited and Trout Unlimited. He was a Life Member of the Vietnam Veterans Association (VVA) and a member of the American Legion.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 23rd, 5:00-7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton, TN. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Elizabethton, TN on Friday January 24th at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private, at a later date, at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.

Mr. Yarwood's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Caris Hospice of Greeneville, TN, for their attentiveness and compassion during his time in their care.
