Earl Stanley Obituary

Earl "Wayne" Stanley

January 13, 2026

JONESBOROUGH - Earl "Wayne" Stanley, 88, of Jonesborough passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at StoryPoint Senior Living in Johnson City.

Wayne was a devoted husband, a loyal partner, and a man who found joy in life's simple routines. A lover of the outdoors, he especially enjoyed yard work and spending time on the golf course, where he could relax and appreciate the day.

Wayne and Kay were high school sweethearts whose love endured for an extraordinary 70 years of marriage.

After retirement, Wayne and Kay moved to Jonesborough, where they made many happy memories together. Wayne believed strongly in staying active and took pride in going to the gym every day for as long as his health permitted.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, George Stanley Jr. and a sister, Jean Pegram.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 70 years Kay Stanley; son, Mike Stanley and wife Susan; daughter, Kathy Stanley; granddaughters, Lauren Stanley and Jessica Stanley-Clark and husband Jack; brothers, David Stanley and Allen Stanley and Wife Jo; sister, Betty Flowers and husband John. Along with several nieces and nephews.

The Family would like to express a heartfelt Thank You to the staff at StoryPoint Senior Living for their love and care toward Kay and Wayne during the time he spent there, as well as his care giver Ginger Mercer.

Per Waynes request, there will be no formal services.
