JOHNSON CITY - Dottie Lousie Tipton, 82, Johnson City, entered into rest on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at her home.
She was a native of Green Mountain, North Carolina and a lifelong resident of Johnson City.
Mrs. Tipton was a daughter of the late Guy and Nadine Peterson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tipton was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Carroll Tipton, and a loving sister, Patty Pickle, of Johnson City.
Mrs. Tipton leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Lesia Gillenwater, son, Tim Tipton, both of Johnson City; brother, Gary Peterson, Johnson City; as well as many friends.
Mrs. Tipton was an employee of Walmart for over 29 years where she started out working at the snack bar and worked her way up to being a customer service manager. She enjoyed working outside with her flowers and in the yard.
The family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to a wonderful friend and neighbor, Mrs. Jackie Jarrett, and to the staff at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 5th, 2024, at 7:00 pm from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Pastor Delbert Storie, officiating. A visitation period will begin at 5:00 pm and continue until service time.
The graveside committal service will be held Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at 12:00 pm in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to go in procession to the cemetery are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:15am.
