Dorothy McAmis Leachman July 8, 1936 - September 7, 2024
MEMPHIS - Dorothy "Dot" McAmis Leachman of Memphis, TN, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and mother-in-law passed away on September 7, 2024 after a life filled with love and happiness. Dot was born in Little Rock, AR on July 8, 1936 to the late Cliff and Dorothy McAmis. Dot graduated from Central High School in Memphis. After marrying the love of her life, Don Joel Leachman on December 27, 1955, Don served in the U.S. Army in Luxembourg, taking Dot with him. After a year overseas, they returned to Memphis to continue their lives together. She was Don's helpmate as they started Don Leachman Scale Service in 1980. Theirs was a partnership and a love that stood the test of time, 62 years, ending with Don's passing in 2018. Dot was an accomplished seamstress and artist, creating amazing work in crochet, knit, and on the sewing machine. Many times, she would stay up late creating special outfits for her children. Dot is survived by two children, Donna (Mark) Wade, and Deborah (Don) Quesenberry, and grandchildren, Kimberly Nicole (Matt) Harder, and Douglas Joel Slawson as well as her sister, Georgia McAmis Ball and her brother, William (Laura Lee) McAmis. Additionally, Dot is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

Loving thoughts lifting Debbie, Doug, Donna, and the rest of Dot´s family and friends. Knowing Debbi so well, I can say that Dot sure was a fabulous mother and special person in that she raised such a wonderful daughter. Life well lived!
