JOHNSON CITY - Dorothy Lea Britt, 88, Johnson City passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Unicoi County and was a daughter of the late Jerry and Maude Coleman Britt. She attended Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church and Boones Creek Freewill Baptist Church before her health worsened. Dorothy loved working in her flower gardens, cooking for her family and fishing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Britt; three brothers, Curtis, Roy and Albert Britt.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa D. Wise of Johnson City; a grandson, Scott Wise of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Dorothy will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, February 13, 2023 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour. Graveside service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Miss Dorothy was a gem! There was something about her that always reminded me of my own grandmother and it always comforted me when I got to be in church with her. Love and prayers! Earth's loss is Heaven's gain!
